How do I get a quote from Pro Bay Handyman?

How long does it take to get a response?
We respond to all quote requests within 24 hours. For urgent situations like active leaks or safety concerns, call (510) 512-5470 directly and we prioritize accordingly.
Do you come to my home for an estimate?
For larger projects, an on-site visit is recommended for an accurate estimate. For smaller repairs, we can often provide a preliminary range over the phone or by photo. We confirm everything in writing before work begins.
What information do I need to provide when requesting a quote?
A description of the problem or project, your general location in the East Bay, and your preferred timeline. Photos are helpful but not required. The more detail you provide, the more accurate our initial estimate.
Can I book multiple repairs in one visit?
Yes, and we recommend it. Combining multiple repairs into one visit is efficient and cost-effective. Share your full list when you contact us and we will schedule appropriate time for all items.

Pricing & Payment

How do you charge for your work?
We provide itemized estimates before work begins. Pricing depends on the scope and complexity of each project. Contact us with your project details for a specific estimate.
Do you charge for estimates?
Initial estimates are generally free. For complex projects requiring significant assessment time, we will let you know in advance if an estimate fee applies, and that fee is credited toward the project if you proceed.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept standard payment methods. Contact us for specifics on payment arrangements for your project type.
Are there any hidden fees?
No. We provide clear estimates upfront. If scope changes during a job, we communicate that before proceeding and get your approval. We do not add charges without your knowledge.

Services & Scope

What services does Pro Bay Handyman offer?
We offer ten service categories: Plumbing Repairs, Carpentry, Closet Systems, Item Assembly, Bathroom Remodeling, General Maintenance, Wall Repair, Painting, Concrete Repair, and Driveway Resurfacing. Most home repairs fall within one of these categories.
Can you handle both small repairs and large remodels?
Yes. We take on everything from a single faucet replacement to a complete bathroom remodel. There is no job too small if it is a genuine repair need.
Do you do work that requires permits?
Most handyman work does not require permits — cosmetic repairs, fixture replacements, painting, drywall, and assembly are all permit-free. For work that does require permits, such as moving plumbing locations or structural changes, we will identify that in the estimate and advise on the process.
Can you fix the problem that caused damage before repairing the damage?
Yes. In many cases we can address both the cause and the damage in the same visit — for example, fixing a plumbing leak and then repairing the water-damaged drywall. We coordinate the sequence of work to avoid redoing repairs.
Do you provide material or should I source it?
Either. We can source materials at cost, or you can provide them. For specific products like a particular faucet brand or paint color, it is often easier for you to select and we install. We will advise in the estimate.
Can you do electrical work?
We handle light electrical tasks like ceiling fan and light fixture replacement on existing circuits. For panel work, new circuit installation, or anything involving permits, a licensed electrician is the right call and we will tell you that directly.
Can you do flooring installation?
We install tile flooring as part of bathroom remodel projects. For full hardwood, LVP, or carpet installation projects, contact us to discuss scope — some flooring projects are within our range depending on complexity.
Do you handle apartment or rental property repairs?
Yes. We work with landlords and property managers throughout the East Bay for tenant-turn maintenance, seasonal checks, punch list repairs, and responsive repairs. Contact us to discuss a service arrangement.

What areas do you serve?
Our primary service area is the East Bay: Hayward, Oakland, San Leandro, Castro Valley, Fremont, Union City, San Lorenzo, and Berkeley. We also serve San Francisco, the Peninsula, and South Bay on request.
Do you serve all neighborhoods within each city?
Yes, we cover all neighborhoods within our service cities. If you are unsure whether your address falls within our current schedule, call (510) 512-5470 and we will confirm.
Can you serve San Francisco?
Yes, on request. Our primary coverage is the East Bay, but we do take San Francisco projects. Contact us with your location and project details to confirm availability.
Do you serve the South Bay or Peninsula?
On request, yes. Contact us with your project and location and we will let you know if we can accommodate the travel.

Quality & Cleanup

Do you clean up after the job?
Yes, always. Every Pro Bay Handyman job ends with a cleanup of the work area. We remove materials, haul debris, and leave the space tidy before we call the job complete.
What if I am not satisfied with the work?
We stand behind our work. If something was done incorrectly or does not meet the agreed spec, contact us and we will return to make it right.
Can I see photos of past work?
We are building our portfolio at probayhandyman.com/portfolio/. Before and after project photos are being added as they are completed.
Do you use quality materials?
Yes. We use standard trade-grade materials or better. If a project calls for a specific brand or grade, we will confirm that in the estimate.

Response Time & Hours

Can you come the same day?
For urgent situations like active leaks, we make every effort to respond same-day. For non-urgent repairs, we respond within 24 hours and schedule based on availability and your timeline.
What are your operating hours?
We operate Monday through Saturday, 8 AM to 6 PM. Quote requests submitted outside those hours are responded to by the next business morning.
Do you work on weekends?
We work Saturdays. Sunday work is not standard but may be arranged for urgent situations — contact us to discuss.

General

How do I prepare my home for a handyman visit?
Clear access to the work area and make sure an adult is home during the visit. Pets secured away from the work area is helpful. We handle the rest.
Do I need to be home during the work?
You or another adult should be present when we arrive and available for questions. You do not need to monitor the work closely — we communicate when needed and check in at completion.
How do you handle unexpected complications during a job?
If we encounter something unexpected that changes the scope — hidden damage, non-standard materials, or additional work needed — we stop, tell you what we found, explain the options, and get your approval before proceeding. We do not expand scope without your knowledge.
